Description
Lot #122 - Most of the roads back in the early twentieth century were not paved and so it was difficult for drivers to really get any speed. However, in florida there happen to be a 20-mile stretch of hard, flat sand between ormand and daytona beach (a popular winter playground) for the rich and famous to go to. It was olds (the precursor of the modern-day oldsmobile) who got the idea to run one of his own cars against one of the winton's right on the beach. The first race was held april of 1902. The race became known as the speed carnival. This became a regular event from 1901 through 1936 where drivers raced what was considered at the time, the worlds most powerful cars trying to break the land speed record. This 1919 model t speedster is restored to look like the #19 car of the day. Which raced on that famous beach in 1921, 22, and 23. It is in full working order and ready to race again. This is also the same car that was used by a local artist in which 100 limited prints were made, named (a good day at the beach) "the original" artist drawing comes with the purchase of this car. sold on bill of sale
