Lot #1002 - This is a vintage Hot Rod that was carefully preserved by a previous owner for half a century, not a new plastic car built from a kit. A few years ago it was professionally restored to show quality condition and it has been carefully preserved since. Powered by a Flathead V8 with Edelbrock heads, Offenhauser intake manifold with 3 Stromberg 97 carburetors and a period bee hive oil filter. A Mallory distributor and high output coil provide the sparks. It drives through a BorgWarner T10 4-speed transmission and has tube shocks on live axles with transverse leaf springs. The brakes are one of early rodder's favorites, finned aluminum drums from a '58 Buick. Based on a genuine '31 Model A frame and real steel roadster body, it has steel wheels with trim rings and hubcaps, wide white wall tires and is attractively and distinctively finished in deep Black Cherry over bright red leather upholstery. The interior appointments are important and worthy of taking note. A Stanley Steamer 4-spoke steering wheel, Auburn V12 dash, Pierce-Arrow clock and a Duesenberg tachometer. A full hood, cut out for Strombergs stacks and hood sides fit behind the Deuce radiator shell. This is classic Hot Rodding at its best, built in the '50s, carefully preserved and meticulously restored.
