Lot #165 - The convertible sedan was a new body style for Ford that would remain in the line-up through 1940. It caused the popular Phaetons to be dropped after 1936, as people liked the roll-up windows. This 1935 Ford 4-door convertible sedan has had the Glenn Shaffer "Hot Rod" treatment using mostly 1930's vintage parts. Featuring a 1936 Ford LB (large bearing) Flathead V8, 251 cubic inch, 155 horsepower engine, 21 stud '53 Mercury crank, 4-speed Synchro/overdrive transmission, hydraulic brakes, dual Fenton exhaust, Eddie Meyer intake heads, dual carbs (Stromberg '97's), Sun tachometer, radio, clock, heater and a special cooling system which Glenn developed using 3 water pumps! Runs cool! Tows trailer at 70 miles per hour!
Custom-built by Glenn Shaffer in 1994 to match the '35 Ford convertible, the tear drop trailer uses 1935 Ford fenders, bumper and tail lights. The trailer features a queen-size mattress, two access doors, roof air vent, front luggage and large storage work area at the rear. This tear drop trailer is similar to many which were on the road during the 1930's and 1940's the original R.V. !
