Description
Lot #439 - This is a one of a kind hand crafted hot rod built in the late 1940's. An outstanding tribute tot he early days of American Hot Rodding. In the heart of this hot rod is a '47 full race flathead Ford V8 with dual Holley carburetors, Offenhauser heads and intake manifold, and a two-speed Columbia differential that sits on a '38 Lincoln chassis. The car features a one of a kind boattail body with great lines, a '38 Ford truck grille, Harley-Davidson front fenders anda V windshield. The car has several unique features, including dual exhausts that exit the engine via exterior flex pipes to exposed mufflers, fender mounted headlights that turn with the car, and an original tilt steering wheel. This is not a new car trying o look the part, but a genuine early hot rod from the late forties. High bid also wins a starting position in next year's Great Race, the world's richest and longest running old car race. Valued at $5,500, the entry can bring the experience of a lifetime and shot at $250,000 in prize money if the driver in this car make the start in the Washington D.C. area on June 25 and finished in Tacoma, Washington on July 9, 2005.
