Lot #1322 - The Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country is one of a handful of post-World War II cars to be selected by the Classic Car Club of America as a CCCA full classic. Even more unusual, it is a post-war design, not a carryover. Entitled to participate in the full range of CCCA events, shows and CARavans, the unique style and execution of the Town & Country sets it apart and makes it especially enjoyable, practical and attractive to collectors who want the Classic experience with a bit more refinement, convenience and luxury. This 1948 New Yorker Town & Country convertible has had a complete and thorough restoration now ready to show or use as a tour car. It is thoroughly equipped including Chrysler's 324cid/114hp inline 8 cylinder engine, fluid drive, hubcaps and trim rings, wide white wall tires, radio, heater and dual remote spotlights. The dark blue paint is crisp and contrasts elegantly with the gorgeous woodwork of the body framing and panels. It has been correctly done to showroom condition, even the engine is correctly detailed and presented. The blue leather upholstery with tan cloth inserts look great, as does the tan cloth top. It can be driven and displayed with pride and confidence, an important design that bridges the evolution of "classic" from pre to post-war with style, elegance and refinement. 1948 was the last year for the true wood-bodied New Yorker Town & Country.
