Description
Lot #612 - Years of production of the fiat topolino were 1936-1955. Four months before fiat introduced the 500, walt disney studios introduced mickey mouse. The italian people fell head over heels in love with the diminutive mouse, and when the fiat 500 was first shown, it became the only car in history to be named by the public. Nowhere in any fiat literature does the word topolino appear, yet it is the only name given to this italian icon. The fiat topolino 500c convertible has gearbox with 4 forward speeds and reverse with silent third and synchromesh for quick engagement of 3rd and 4th speeds. It gets 56 miles to the gallon and has a top speed of 60 miles per hour. In italy, the fiat topolino is the most loved and recognized automobile. It is the most desired one model collector car. This particular topolino is probable the only one in north america to remain stock...it has never been raced or hot-rodded. Because the topolino was never sold new in north america, this rare convertible would be an exceptional addition for any collector or museum. This 1951 fiat topolino 500c convertible is eligible for the mille miglia in italy in may 2003.
