Lot #56 - Built in September 1952 by Willys-Overland Motors in Toledo, OH this military Jeep M38-A1 has undergone a meticulous restoration. The M38-A1 is a ? ton 4x4 with 3 forward speeds and 1 reverse with transfer by a 2 speed unit distributing power to the front and rear axles through propeller shafts. 1952 was the first year that the Willys Jeep features round front fenders, a contoured hood, a 2 piece windshield and top mounted windshield wipers. This Korean War era jeep was used by the military to transport command, reconnaissance personnel and light cargo. New for 1952 was the F head F4-134 "Hurricane" motor and Warner T-90 transmission. The original matching numbers F head 4 cylinder 2.2 Liter 134cid motor develops 72hp @ 4,000rpm and 114ft/lbs and is designed to run on as low as 68 octane. Voltage has been converted from 24 to 12 volts. All gauges and lights are in working order including 3 night vision front lights. Attention to detail can be seen in the correct new matte military green paint, new front and rear seating and new correct canvas top. Rides on 16"x7" Cooper Cross Country tires with rear mounted spare along with rear mounted gas can and ammo cartridge box. Highly detailed motor and compartment with original shovel mounted underhood. As clean on the underside as it is on top. Everything in working order and ready to drive and enjoy.
