Description

Lot #642 - Award-winning 1953 M38A1 Korean War military Jeep with complete ground-up restoration, meticulously reproduced by a renowned aircraft engineer and military historian. Four years and well over $40,000 expended towards this astonishing vehicle. All military manuals, testing equipment, documentation, spare parts and photos of build are included. Only shown on two occasions and both times came out Best of Show. With less than 55 miles since its build, the 134cid, F-Head Hurricane engine delivers robust power and torque to get this military marvel to the front line. Has front and rear 4X series Spicer floating axles. Shift in to high range and high gear and this military brute will cruise comfortably down the highway at 65mph. The Warner T90 transmission is a 3-speed manual with synchronous mesh in 2nd and 3rd. The Spicer 18 transfer case is essentially a 2-speed transmission located after the standard transmission allowing power to be transferred to the front axle or to operate a PTO for a variety of uses. Vacuum driven windshield wipers, cruise control, convertible, waterproofed engine, under-seat gas tank, heater and 24V slave receptacle are some of the amazing and unique features of the M38A1. **TITLED AS A WILLYS SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION**
