Description

Lot #98 - This was one of the first few built by Ford. The first production model was assembled on September 9, 1954. This car was built on September 24, 1954 and was shipped to Lighthouse Motors in Riverside, California. The color is "Thunderbird Blue," the marque color of the new T-Bird. The engine is 292 cubic inches with an automatic transmission. As production of the 1955 T-Bird evolved, 37 production feature variations have been documented from the first to the last models. This car exhibits 36 of those 37 early model features. A total frame-off restoration was completed in 1992 and 1993 with a refresh in 2000. At the 40th Anniversary of the Thunderbird in Dearborn, it was the oldest of the 600 production T-Birds in attendance registered in competition. There it received CTCI Senior Gold, Gold Medallion and Excellence in Authenticity. It has also achieved Senior AACA distinction. In 2001, it was a Goodguys Restoration Pick and in 2002, it was awarded the C.A.S.I. Cup, Best Antique/Restored and other recognition by Championship Auto Shows International. It has been recognized by more than 50 additional Best of Show, Peoples Choice, Governor's Choice, Best in Class, Preservation, Authenticity, Paint, Engine and other awards.
