Lot #641.1 - Less than 1,200 miles since build. Built by Speedster Motorcars in Clearwater, Florida. Offered for the first time since new, reliable GM powertrain, one of 20 built. The GW Coupe, GW for Gull Wing, is a revival of the famous 300SL design of 1955-57. The cars architecture was derived from the Speedster and Z-series Models, a tubular chassis frame with coil-over shock suspension, control arms in front and 4-link at the rear, rack & pinion steering and four wheel vented power disc brakes. The powertrain was a tried and true General Motors recipe, with a Vortec V8 5.3 liter engine and 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission. The fiberglass body rose only 51" from the pavement, exactly the same as the original and the whole car weighed just over 2,700 pounds. Just 20 were built before Speedster Motorcars went into remission in March of 2008. A virtually new car with just under 1,200 miles since built, this GW Coupe is handsome in Arctic Silver over berry leather. The doors operate in the iconic overhead fashion, leading one to a cockpit that is at once both Spartan and cozy. Almost hidden is the fact that it is in possession of all creature comforts from air conditioning to an analog clock. The instruments are elegantly, but eminently legible white on grey. Not withstanding the chrome wheels, the car has restrained brightwork. The whole package represents good value and convenience, with just 20 built, it is a rare car for sure. **TITLED AS A 1955 GULLWING REPLICA**
