Lot #625.1 - The Beck-Chamonix/Spyder 550 is a re-creation of the famous German Spyder 550 which was built from 1954 to 1957. Besides the racing success in LeMans, France the car became famous when James Dean was killed instantly in an accident with his 550 Spyder in 1955. The Spyder is manufactured by Beck-Chamonix in Brazil. The final finish to the cars is given at the U.S. facility in Indiana. Beck-Chamonix's unique reputation with its decades of experience in building perfect hand-made quality classic cars stands for the finest products on the market. Beck-Chamonix is using standard, universally available VW parts to keep maintenance and driving costs low.
