Description

Lot #1033 - This Corvette is equipped with the 265cid V8 motor with two 4 barrel carburetors producing 225hp. It has the smooth shifting Powerglide transmission. It is Cascade Green with white coves. It has a beige interior with a beige softtop and comes with the power operated folding top parts. It had a frame-off restoration approximately seven years ago by a Corvette shop in Georgia. It still remains in beautiful condition with less than 1,000 miles since restoration. The car was freshened up, including paint and mechanicals in the last three months to bring it up to the highest standards. A truly beautiful example of the first year Zora Duntov designed Corvette. Only 3,467 cars were built in 1956. The Corvette's destiny as America's premier competitive sports car would take shape with the 1956 model and in 1956 Zora Dontov became the chief engineer of the Corvette. Many of the problems that plagued the 1953-1955 models were addressed. The new design featured outside door handles, roll-up windows and a factory sourced hardtop was available. Power windows and a power top were options. The interior remained the same.
