Lot #357 - A complete, ground-up, fully custom convertible built by the Roadster Shop as seen in the pages of "Super Chevy" magazine in 2007/2008. Billed as Project American Heroes, the car was constructed using all new aftermarket components to raise awareness and money for the Armed Forces Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides aid and support for troops returning home from battle. The complete build was covered in a series of 8 articles in "Super Chevy" magazine and is the subject of a special 100 page commemorative "Super Chevy" issue. The all-new CARS, Inc. body is finished with House of Kolor's Majik Blue pearl paint and sits on a hand-fabricated Roadster Shop tube chassis with Heidts Superide II IFS and triangulated 4-bar rear suspension, Moser M9 fabricated rear end equipped with an Auburn gear limited slip differential unit and 3.73:1 gears, full Air Ride adjustable air suspension system, 4-wheel stainless steel disc brakes put into action with a Classic Performance Products Hydro Boost master cylinder and booster assembly, Flaming River front mount rack & pinion steering, all rolling on Intro billet 18" & 20" wheels sporting Nitto tires. Powered by a 572cid big block Chevy engine, custom built by Smeding Performance that produces 717hp with a single Holley carburetor and pump gasoline. The foundation for the engine is a standard height Dart block. The 4.250" stroke crank and 6.535" long rods are 4340 forged steel units and the complete hydraulic roller valve train is from Competition Cams. The engine is topped off with RHS Pro Action aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley Carburetor and fuel pump, K&N billet air cleaner assembly, MSD ignition system, Royal Purple oil, Canton oil pan and Sanderson block hugger headers routed through a custom Bassani exhaust system. All is tied together and driven by a billet aluminum March Pulley System. The engine is kept cool with a Flex-a-Lite aluminum radiator and electric fans with fabricated core support fabricated by AutoRad Radiator systems. Power is put to the ground via a TCI Street Fighter computer controlled 4L80E automatic transmission and Inland Empire aluminum driveshaft. Fuel is supplied by a Rock Valley custom stainless steel tank connected with stainless steel lines from Classic Tube. The interior has a full compliment of CARS, Inc upholstery and is covered by a Stay Fast convertible top. The custom carpet rests on a bed of Dynamat sound deadener and the interior is finished off with a Custom Auto Sound stereo, Dakota Digital gauge cluster, Flaming River steering column and steering wheel, Lokar floor shifter, Electric-Life electric windows and door poppers and Classic Auto Air conditioning system.
