Description
Lot #1333.1 - Body Modifications: Quarters have been "flattened" by removing 2 1/4" of the original bow. The doors and front fenders have been flattened to match quarters. The inside of the quarters have been lengthened 1/2" to "square up" the taillights. The rear bumper center section was narrowed to "tuck in" the bumper ends. The rear wheel wells have been widened 3 1/2" per side. The spare tire well has been removed. The trunk floor has been completely reshaped. The gas tank has been relocated to the inside of the car. The right side fin molding has been modified and fitted to the left side in order to eliminate the gas filler door. Chassis Modifications: The wheelbase has been lengthened 1 1/2". All original holes and mounts have been removed from the front cross member. The attaching points for the front control arms have been boxed and smoothed. The sheet metal re-enforcement on the bottom of the frame, a convertible only feature, has been molded to the frame. All body mounts have been boxed and smoothed. The rear springs have been relocated using spring pockets for the front with the rear of the frame notched for clearance. A stainless steel plate has been added to the front cross member and doubles as a skid plate and a jack pad and much more. Interior Modifications: The rear seat is custom made. The front seats are custom made. The gauges are Haneline aircraft "two in one" units. The speedometer is a Stewart Warner 160 mph unit made especially for the 1957 Chevrolet. The steering column is an IDIDIT Hot Rod column modified by Bobby Alloway. The steering wheel is a Corvette unit that has had the original leather removed so that the spokes could be polished, then the wheel was rewrapped with new leather and a billet aluminum horn button was added. The radio is an original 1957 Chevrolet Wonder Bar unit which has been converted to an AM/FM and drives the 10-disc CD changer which is located in the trunk. The gear selector has been relocated to the floor by Lokar shifter. All windows are power operated by a complete specialty system. The windshield wipers are all electric and include an intermittent feature. All inside handles and window cranks have been removed. The doors are opened from inside the car by a solenoid hidden in the door panel. Custom panels have been made for the trunk in order to conceal the custom made gas tank, the battery, the CD changer and the other electrical components. All interior and trunk surfaces are converted by black leather or black wool carpet. Top Modifications: The front top bow has been chopped 1 1/2" and narrowed 1". The center top bow has been chopped 1 3/4" and narrowed 1". The rear top bow has been chopped 1 3/4" and narrowed 1". The top material is Hartz cloth replacing the original vinyl.
