Lot #405.2 - This Mercury Monterey has been painstakingly restored to accurately re-create a 1957 California Highway Patrol cruiser. The quality of the work done and the attention to detail are truly amazing. The complete restoration was carried out by a former California Highway Patrol officer who went coast to coast finding parts and put in untold hours of research to make this Monterey look as authentic as possible. Everything is here, vintage spot lights, dual whip antennas, rear porch lights, a working siren, period correct radar unit, authentic graphics, a Smith Warner 120mph Police Special speedometer, vintage CA Exempt plate, even a vintage Motorola radio unit. The effect is arresting, pardon the pun, and looks like it came off the screen of Broderick Crawford's hit TV show "Highway Patrol". Included with the car is a notebook full of information, research, color restoration pictures, restoration data and copies of articles about these cars when they were actually in use. This is a very unique, usable and fun collector car.
