Lot #669 - In the late `50s and early `60s, Fiat commissioned Carrozzeria Ghia to build a small number of custom bodies for the Jolly roadster on the diminutive 600 chassis. This sporty little vehicle, with its wicker seats and fringed top, was the car of choice for wealthy European playboys and their supermodel girlfriends in the Riviera resort communities such as St. Tropez and Monte Carlo; their Ferraris and Maseratis were simply unsuitable within these picturesque but crowded communities! Aristotle Onassis was reputed to be a Jolly owner. Jollys were rare even in their heyday, and fewer than 100 are believed to exist today. Seldom offered, this is a finely maintained example from a private collection. The wicker seats have recently been painstakingly renewed, with all other mechanical and cosmetic elements in excellent condition. The vanity license plate MNKY CAR reflects recent use on Monkey Island, Grand Lake, 'The Oklahoma Riviera.' A Fiat Jolly is both an interesting and unique collectable automobile as well as a toy that can be used and enjoyed.
