Lot #345 - YOM 798 was dispatched from the Morgan Motor Co. on July 16th, 1959. In October of 1959, Christopher Lawrence began modification of this Plus 4 into a Lawrence Tune team car outfitted with an 8" competition steering wheel, twin tuned SU carbs (no air cleaner), Super Sports type side scoop, high compression polished heads, racing pistons, and balanced flywheel, rods, and crankshaft. The car was imported into the US (air freight) from London in 1975. In Aug, Sept, and Oct. of 1994, it entered into an extensive maintenance program at GT CARS (Bloomington, MN). The racing steering wheel was replaced with a 14" touring steering wheel, electric cooling fan was replaced with an engine driven fan (for better cooling), hoses were replaced, wheel brake rotors were machined, fluids were drained and refilled, wheel bearings were replaced, both front and back halves of transmission and drive shaft removed for new U joints and seals, carbs were reworked & worn parts were replaced, electrical connections were checked and repaired, gas tank was removed, flushed and reinstalled, and all systems were examined, repaired where necessary, and tuned. (GT CAR maintenance invoices are available for inspection.) Recent maintenance (within the last 90 days) again removed, flushed, relined & reinstalled gas tank, replaced the fuel pump, installed a new Morgan heater, and reinforced the fabric hood. (Side curtains are not included.) The car is in basicallly original condition.
