Description

Lot #803.1 - This 1961 Jaguar Mark 2 Saloon is the recipient of a show-quality, total nut and bolt rotisserie restoration by specialists, Vintage Jag Works in Blackfoot, ID. It took nearly four years to complete, finished in September of 2012 and with expert old-world craftsmanship, the finest materials and no regard for expense, the result is nothing short of spectacular. The body was stripped to bare metal and finished in factory correct Carmen Red, the interior comprehensively redone with Biscuit hued Connelly leather interior, matching genuine Wilton wool carpets and all new/restored wood trim. Mechanically, the factory original matching numbers DOHC inline 6 was freshly rebuilt, new clutch installed for the desirable factory 4-speed manual transmission, all new restored suspension components including polyurethane bushings for improved feel, the frame fully refinished and much more. All the trim and brightwork is either re-plated or replaced and the car rolls on chrome wire wheels wearing correct reproduction bias ply tires. Included with purchase is comprehensive and highly detailed information about the restoration with accompanying invoices that total $142,720.87, an extensive file of restoration photos, additional professionally taken "after" photos and the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Simply put, this mark 2 ranks among the very finest 1960s Jaguars of any model available.
