Description
Lot #301 - This MGA 1600 is a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust car. It is a factory original Chariot Red car. Built in Jan 25-27, 1960 and dispatched from England on Feb 3, 1960. Its original destination was USA, North American export. Beginning with a car that was unbelievably rust free, it was media blasted, both frame and body separately. Brought to a glassy finish by hand with several primer coats, hand sanded between each and the paint applied painstakingly coat, by coat alternating handwork until it was finally hand glazed for your presentation. Every element of this car has been refinished and or rebuilt by hand, some modern elements which provide exceedingly better reliability including electronic ignition, nylox nuts, polyurethane bushings and urethane paint were used. Unlike the 1500 CC (1489CC) cars, which were rated at only 68 HP, the 1600 (1588 cc) cars were a roaring 80 HP. This car is also distinguished from earlier MGA's by its disc brakes, which provided a much safer car without the fade of drums. The Heritage certificate shows that the "other" factory fitted equipment was disc wheels, whitewall tires and heater. The disc wheels have been abandoned in favor of the beautiful and appealing chrome wires and blackwalls for effect.
