Lot #302 - April 8, 2005 Lynn Roberts drove to Morton, Texas, west of Lubbock, and trailered back to Azle, TX. This 1962 VW Beetle that was left to her by her late uncle, John Crowder. Folks who were stopped at gas stations along the way tried to buy the car on the spot. Lynn brought it to my body shop and we began the restoration process. Upon cleaning the car out which had been stored in a barn since 1982, I found the original title that was issued on March 16, 1962, along with all service records from when it was purchased new. These records confirm the mileage showing on the vehicle's odometer to be true and correct at 70,980. The records also show detailed history of all oil changes until December of 1981. Original purchase receipts, title, owner's manual, service records, restoration receipts and a 1962 penny found under the front seat are all in a binder that go with the car. Receipts also include one from 11-6-1981, where Mr. Crowder had the engine overhauled at 67,330 miles for the incredible price of $470.86. This car has been completely restored front to rear, top to bottom which include major tune up on engine. This is cool car is a unique find. Well documented and done right.
