Lot #666 - The quality, style, dignity and luxury of the 4-door Lincoln Continental is evidenced by its 9-year production run from 1961 through 1969 essentially unchanged in appearance. Its strong and quiet unit body construction was a technical milestone and the Continental never lacked for power. Lincoln sold 30,000-40,000 of the $6,000-7,000 Continentals every year; making it a commercial as well as aesthetic success. The only significant changes came in 1966 when the already generous Continental got even longer, 221", almost 18½' from bumper to bumper and the engine was bored and stroked to a generous 462cid boosting the Continental's power to 340hp. This gorgeous 1966 Lincoln Continental is a highly desirable and rare 4-door convertible body style which represented just 8.2% of Continental production in 1966. Even better, it is a single family owned from new car that has been driven just 46,000 original miles while receiving a throughout mechanical restoration completed in 2010. The restoration included a bare metal repaint, new leather upholstery and interior trim and cloth top in the rich and distinctive original triple blue livery. A meticulously maintained car with continuous history in the family of the original owner, this is a quality example that has always had consistent attention to its needs. It would be hard to find a 1966 Lincoln Continental 4-door convertible with a better combination of history, color and presentation.
