Lot #944 1967 AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MARK III BJ8 CONVERTIBLE
Lot #944 - This is a 1967 Austin-Healey MKIII BJ8 in the rare color of metallic Golden Beige. There were only 547 MKIII's painted in this color and the Golden Beige Registry has only accounted for 115 left. This Healey had a body-off rotisserie restoration in 1994 and only had 28,000 original miles. It was sold new in California but sat outside with a tarp over it for many years, thus the low miles. The engine had a major rebuild in 1997 due to an oil consumption problem. The engine rebuild included a hotter RV cam, ported and polished cylinder head and a lightened flywheel. This Healey has been used in Austin-Healey Club events and now has less than 64,500 original miles on it. This is a rust-free and accident-free car and retains all the original sheet metal and with the exception of the carpet and dash, the interior is all original. This is a great driving Healey and in this color and is one of the best. Over 17,000 MKIII's were built and only 463 were built after this one. A copy of the British Heritage Report, or the factory Build Sheet, goes with the car.
