Lot #371 - This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was built in Norwood, OH, in the third week of June. From research gathered it appears it was sold at Tal Williams Chevrolet in Florence, SC. The paint code is U-U, which is LeMans Blue with white Z/28 stripes. The trim code is 717, which is standard blue bucket interior. It is equipped with option codes A01 tinted glass, D80 spoilers, D55 console, G80 posi-traction rear axle, J50/J52 power brakes with disc brakes, Z21-style trim group, U63 AM radio, N34 wood steering wheel and V31 front bumper guard package. Prior to the recent restoration this car was certified by Vintage Camaro Certification and awarded the level of "Legend," scoring 2,290 of a possible 2,880 points. This car was also certified prior to the restoration by Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance. Jerry's report stated that this was a very nice, unmolested Z/28 that deserved a full frame-off restoration. Jerry's advice was taken and this car was completely restored from top to bottom. The car had tons of original parts. The parts that could be restored were, and the parts that couldn't were replaced with OEM/NOS parts. Many photos of the restoration were taken to document the originality. It retains all the original sheet metal. During the restoration, the original factory chalk marks were found on the back side of the sheet metal. After the body was prepped properly, it was painted the original LeMans Blue with white Z/28 stripes. The paint is beautiful and the stripes were laid exactly where the original stripes were. The blue interior was restored and looks spectacular. It still retains the original glove box door stickers. The trunk compartment is original and in great condition, so it was left alone. The detailed engine compartment is home to the original matching-numbers 302 engine. The engine is coupled to the original Muncie M21 transmission. The power is transferred through the original 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears and posi-traction. The undercarriage is also very detailed. Owner history and original photos of the car dating back to the early '70s are included.
