Description

Lot #805 - The late production 1968 E-Type Series I represents a transition between the early Series I and Series II, offering the classic styling cues and details of the Series I with some of the technical improvements of the Series II. This example was delivered new to Toronto, Canada in 1968 and has remained in the city ever since, used only as a summer ride. As a Canadian version it is equipped with the three SU downdraft carburetors free of the emissions equipment on the US delivered cars. As confirmed by the official Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate #1692, this 4.2 Liter roadster left the factory clad in Opalescent Silver Blue paint over Navy Blue leather, Navy Blue Wilton wool carpeting and a Navy Blue convertible top. Restoration over the past four years has included the following: all original body parts refinished in the original Opalescent Silver Blue, interior has been completely refreshed with all new Navy leather coverings, rebuilt seat structures, recovered console, door panels and new Navy Wilton wool carpet, the hood was recovered in a Navy Blue fabric complete with a matching cover, the trunk received new factory original tan coverings, all new 304 stainless steel exhaust system, exhaust manifold was recoated in the original black ceramic finish, the engine was dismantled and inspected for tolerances and the head was fully rebuilt to factory specs. Under the bonnet many of the metal finishes were recoated, hoses changed, new electrics installed and restored cooling fans. Original style Dunlop radial tires installed, brakes, steering and suspension components restored as required.
