Lot #789 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO RS/SS PACE CAR CONVERTIBLE
Lot #789 - For the second time in just three years, the Camaro was selected to pace the Indy 500, and Chevy again capitalized on the occasion by releasing limited-edition "Pace Car Replicas" in both coupe (RPO Z10) and convertible form (Z11). The cars featured a Dover White body with Hugger Orange Z/28-style hood and deck lid stripes. Inside, the car sported a unique orange interior with orange-and-black houndstooth fabric inserts on the seats. This Camaro is a beautifully restored, genuine RS/SS Z-11 pace car that is equipped with power steering, upgraded 4-wheel disc brakes and all aluminum 1970's ZL-1 427 engine with a Tremec 5-speed transmission. To complement this amazing powertrain, the front and rear suspension have been upgraded with 'state of the art' components and coilover shocks, along with custom Chip Foose 18"x9" front and 18"x101/2" rear wheels. This amazing Camaro also features a completely upgraded audio system, roll bar and a 4-point racing harness on both upgraded front seats. There has been no expense spared on building this Camaro to exacting specifications that reflect period correctness with the reliability and dependability of today.
