Description

Lot #749 - This is a true "Z-11" Code Camaro, built the fifth week of March in 1969. This beautifully restored, genuine RS/SS pace car is powered by Chevrolet's famous 325hp/396 big block. While this specific block is not original to the car, the engine is exactly the type and displacement of the engine that was originally installed. Herculean efforts have gone into making this car as close to what originally rolled off the line as possible. This specific block was manufactured by the Chevrolet facotry within months of the date of the original. A Muncie 4-speed transmission and a 12-bolt rear end complete this powerful package. Other factory original features include Cowl Induction, power front disc brakes and power steering. The exterior of this beauty is factory accurate down to the smallest detail of the unique factory color scheme. The factory set these "Pace Cars" apart from the pack with the front and rear spoiler kit, finished in the correct Dover White with Hugger Orange stripes. The hood and deck stripes, that the factory borrowed from the the Z/28, for pace car use only, are also authentic. The interior features the unique orange deluxe interior with black houndstooth fabric inserts on the front and rear seats, a console equipped with factory gauges, Hurst 4-speed shifter, SS steering wheel, Rosewood dash and 7000rpm factory tachometer. Factory SS Rally wheels with trim rings and BFGoodrich tires complete the package on this highly desirable big block Indy pace car. And, to top it all off, it's a convertible. Only a time machine could get you closer to being back in '69.
