Description

Lot #772 - Presenting a magnificent 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 custom that has great looks and the power to back it up. This car has been modified to outperform the original and it has been certified by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish. As the VIN and Trim Tag indicate this was an original Chevrolet Camaro V8 coupe that was built in Van Nuys (Los Angeles), CA mid-December 1968. The Trim Tag didn't have any codes for Z/28s on the early Van Nuys built cars. This Camaro was built to be The Ultimate Z/28. It has been through a very extensive rotisserie restoration. Everything has been restored or replaced. The body is very straight and the gaps are tight. It is painted in its original Code #71 LeMans Blue color that was slightly customized with a touch of pearl and metallic. It is absolutely beautiful and serious eye candy. The car has been slightly lowered and has a great stance. It sits on brand new 17" US Mag wheels that reflect the paint. The interior is like brand new and has the original upgraded upholstery which is Code #712 black custom. The interior has a few upgrades including a black Billet Specialties Profile steering wheel, Auto Meter gauges, Hurst shifter, fire extinguisher and custom Z/28 carpeted floor mats. The engine compartment is highly detailed. It is home to the modified DZ 302 engine. These engines came from the factory with some good power but this engine was built to produce some serious power. Some of these internal upgrades include ported heads and intake, Eagle connecting rods, JE SRP dome pistons, solid roller camshaft, Comp cam, stainless rockers and of course everything was balanced and blueprinted. Other upgrades include a Holley HD series 750 carburetor, MSD ignition system, chrome alternator with custom bracket, new style chrome Chevrolet valve covers with Moroso stacks, 9" chrome brake booster, ceramic Hooker headers, chrome fender supports and polished bow tie show panel. The engine is coupled with an M21 4-speed transmission. It is equipped with a Lakewood scatter shield, CenterForce HD clutch and fly wheel. This car shifts tight and smooth. The power is transferred to the pavement through a 12-bolt rear end with a custom cover. The engine breathes through a custom Flowmaster 2 1/2 exhaust system with an X-pipe that sounds mean. The undercarriage is nicely detailed and has many upgrades. Some of the components have been painted with the factory markings just to keep some of the originality. This car has power steering and power front disc brakes. It has QA1 adjustable shocks at all four corners and Cal Trac bars in the rear to keep the car on the road. The trunk compartment is also nicely detailed.
