Lot #852 - Galpin Auto Sports captivated onlookers at the 2009 SEMA convention in Las Vegas as they built a 1969 Mustang from scratch, live in just three days. The major components were positioned on the stage, on a stand next to the Mustang body were a V8 engine, and carefully arranged nearby was the suspension, interior, dash, wiring, wheels, tires, glass and trim pieces within reach and ready for installation. Seven Galpin crew members took less than 24 hours over 3 days to hand build the '69 Mustang live on stage and at 6:00pm on Friday, the key was finally turned and the Mustang's motor fired up, accompanied by cheers from the crowd. Immediately afterwards, drifting mega-star Vaughn Gittin Jr. took the car out for a sideways drift around the strip. This '69 Mustang features PPG Green Pearl Chatreuse paint, Katzkin leather interior, Grant steering wheel, Ford Racing 5-speed manual transmission and 351 engine. The Hilborn fuel injection was converted to electronic fuel injection with the Fast XFI system. Galpin Auto Sports installed Shelby 2-piece wheels, Nitto tires, SSBC disc brakes and a Chris Alston Total Control Performance steering and suspension package. Authentic '69 parts include an Ididit brand steering column and Dynacorn fastback Mustang shell.
