Lot #3001 - This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible Hurst Shifter replica was built by the renowned Thornton Motors Inc. of Bucks County, PA with guidance from legendary Hurst engineer "Doc" Watson. The car is a replica of the Oldsmobile 442 convertible that Hurst Shifters used to showcase its shifter and made famous by their spokeswoman Linda Vaughn, a.k.a. "Miss Golden Shifter." The car appeared at various motorsports and auto events in the late '60s and '70s promoting Hurst Shifters around the country, catapulting Linda Vaughn and the Oldsmobile 442 into stardom. The car is outfitted with a 9' shifter and platform that Hurst models stood on waving to cheering fans. It has signature Firefrost Gold stripes and emblems, an outrageous mailbox hood scoop and rear deck spoiler. The car has an outside air inducted 455 and Hurst dual gate shifter tied to a specially calibrated TH400 transmission. The car rolls on 15x7 chrome wheels made exclusively for the '69 Hurst Olds program.
