Lot #1070 - This 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS5 4-speed Southwestern convertible has undergone a meticulous, factory correct, frame-off rotisserie restoration to the highest degree which is evident in every way from its fit to its laser-straight and beautiful finish. It has show quality panel fit, trim and chrome bright work, glass and upholstery. The underside is mirror ready and the engine compartment can handle any white glove test imaginable. The cowl data tag reveals that the body was built and assembled at the Baltimore plant the first week of May 1970. It was finished in Tuxedo Black, Code 19, with bucket seats and console in black, Code 756, and a black top, Code B. The most sought after Chevelles are the 454 versions. This LS5 boasts 360hp from its big block, cylinder heads with huge valves, special performance camshaft and high compression pistons. All that power and torque is backed by a Muncie close ratio M21 4-speed gear box, 11" super duty clutch and 12-bolt posi-traction rear axle with 4.10:1 gear ratio. Chevelles functional Cowl Induction also enhances performance. No build sheet was found during the restoration, so this car will be sold without documentation. A multitude of safety and convenience options and accessories include power steering, power disc brakes, power top, F41 ride and handling chassis package, courtesy lamp group, Soft Ray shaded glass, twin outside mirrors, tilt wheel, AM/FM 8-track sound system, special instrumentation with needle gauges, tachometer and Rally clock, glamorous SS wheels with raised white letter wide ovals and, rarely ever seen, factory air conditioning.
