Lot #12 - Car started life as a 1971 VW Beetle. Car was disassembled down to the shell. A 1963 VW Beetle ragtop donor car was used for parts. The ragtop assembly was removed from the 63 and professionally installed into the roof of the 71 Beetle shell. It looks exactly as a 1963 ragtop should. Pans were installed along with a rear package tray. Body was sandblasted and restored from the pan up. Fenders, hood and rear deck lid were replaced. Herbie white paint throughout. All exterior trim, bumpers, lenses, glass, weather strips, rubber, ect. was replaced. Chrome wheels and tires. Pop-out rear windows installed. All interior is replaced with 1963 deluxe brick red seats/door panels and charcoal carpet including charcoal cloth ragtop. Charcoal trunk trim and matching chrome spare wheel. Fresh dual-port 1600cc engine, exhaust, wiring throughout. Brake system and gas lines replaced. Sony CD with Infinity speakers. Restoration was completed in May 2006. Won first place at Volkswagen show in August 2006. Everything has been done to make this car look like a 1963. Ready for show and a joy to drive.
