Description

Lot #77 - You are viewing a beautiful 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. The 1977 T/A in black and gold was one of the popular choices in 1977. It was also one of the most popular second generation Trans Ams. The exterior of this car features beautiful black paint with front and rear spoilers, optional gold eagle on the hood, optional gold cast aluminum wheels, window seal moldings and the oh-so-popular factory Shaker Hood scoop. The glass is in excellent condition and the gold cast aluminum wheels now ride on BFGoodrich T/A radials. The black interior is in excellent condition and equipped with the following, power steering, tilt wheel, power disc brakes, factory air conditioning, cruise control, AM radio, 8-track stereo tape player, custom trim group, tinted glass and door edge guards. Under the hood is the 6.6L, or 400cid, Pontiac engine. Beginning in 1977, Pontiac engineers reversed years of declining power by raising the compression ratio in the Pontiac 400 through the installation of different cylinder heads with smaller combustion chambers, these heads were known as the 6x4 heads, taken from the Pontiac 350. This increased power by 10% for a total of 220hp. The transmission is the Turbo hydra-matic. The rear differential is a posi-traction unit spinning 3.22 gears. The 1977 Trans Am also saw excitement and extra attention as Burt Reynolds drove the black and gold special edition Trans Am in the movie hit "Smokey and the Bandit". In recent years the popularity of these Trans Ams have increased impressively.
