Description
Lot #1535 - Jesse James and his Monster Garage crew took a standard Chevrolet Suburban and transformed it into the baddest, most tricked-out wedding-chapel-on-wheels the world has ever known. After gutting the vehicle, the team replaced the front passenger seat with two bottles of compressed nitrogen and converted the remaining passenger and cargo space into a wedding arch and air calliope. The bulk of the roof was removed and replaced with a hinged Maltese Cross stained-glass arch. Jaqlyn Flory, the Queen Mary's organist for the last 30 years had the pleasure of playing the first notes on the Monster wedding chapel calliope. They were loud, harsh and horribly out of tune. But they made the sweetest sound this team had ever heard. THE TEAM: Jesse James, custom-bike builder/designer, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA, Donald Burnes, minister, Southern California, Tonna Carlo, Hot Rod painter, fabricator and Discovery.com bulletin-board regular, Olympia, WA, John Frye, designer, Honda, Torrance, CA, Tony Gentile, custom Hot Rod builder, Tujunga, CA, Steve Hosking, certified electrical, mechanical and computer engineer, Santa Cruz, CA, Charles Kegg, pipe-organ builder, Cleveland, OH, Ray Kent, technical director, Laguna Playhouse, Aliso Viejo, CA, Jim Morrison, industrial contractor, hot-rod builder and Discovery.com bulletin-board regular, Salem, OH, and Tom Prewitt, custom painter, Damon's Motorcycle Creations, Brea, CA. VEHICLE SPECS: Engine: 5.0 Liter 8-cylinder; Exhaust: muffler and tail pipes removed with plasma torch; Tires: Toyo Proxes S/T 305/40 R22; Wheels: KMC 22x29 Venom wheels with Spintek Vegas spinners. Electronics: Includes a birdseed thrower powered by a 12-volt motor and four separate actuators, each controlled by switches tapped off the main battery and mounted under the dash. Paint: House of Kolor KS212 Metallic silver primer followed by IP02 Ice White Pearl basecoat, MF-2 Silver minflake, then F-15 Silver Flake and clear coat. Stained glass: House of Kolor UK11 Candy Apple Red and UK-12 Pagen Gold, blended. MONSTER SPECS: Includes rear passenger doors that are hinged to create entrance and exit ramps, each powered by a 300-pound capacity linear actuator attached to a custom lifting bracket; an overhead arch powered by same type of actuator, also utilizing a custom bracket; and an organ platform and pipe manifold deploy using a single 500-pound heavy-duty actuator. A pipe holder, which is a custom-made carriage mounted by pillow blocks to an interior frame; the chapel doors, ceiling and organ rack, the calliope pipes, which are custom-made from copper and aluminum specifically for the Monster chapel; the organ keyboard and tinted windows. **SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY.
