Lot #694.2 - Folks, this is the real deal. A 1999 Chevy Camaro Z/28 official Indy Festival Car. These festival cars were provided by Chevrolet for promotional track use in the 83rd running of the Indy 500. This car was presented to Scottsdale's own multi-winner Arie Luyendyk for setting fast laps and winning the pole in the 1999 Indy 500. It was identified as #5 in the series by Chevrolet with markings on the windshield, license plate tag and specially embossed key tag. This was a tribute to Arie's #5 Indy car for that race. Luyendyk won the 1990 and 1997 Indy 500 and still holds the records for fastest lap, fastest qualifying speeds and fastest average speed in a race, along with the most career winnings at over $6.1 million. After Chevrolet presented this car, Arie then gave it to his team owner, Fred Treadway, owner of Treadway Racing and Specialty Systems Inc. Treadway kept this for limited personal use and registered to his company Specialty Systems until it entered a private collection in 2005. Signed by Arie Luyendyk and Fred Treadway. It has never been offered for public sale until today.
