Lot #1587 - This design was commissioned for Bentley's introductions to the XGR as a celebration of the Le Mans winning Speed 8 racers that have continued the bloodline of success at the great French race so emblazoned on it's past. Demonstrating a composite body on tubular chassis with a novel canopy, the design was built locally in California by the So Cal Speed Shop, otherwise famous for the `Belly Tanker' salt flat racers of yesteryear. Designed in the UK by Bentley Concept Engineering Chief and raced by junior by junior designer and go-cart racing supremo, Dominic Najafi, a lack of development combined with a robust and consequently heavy chassis left this racer in mid field contention. Nevertheless, this was to be the first of the US Bentley gravity racers where the XGR is now the one of serious Gravity racing following the discontinuation of the sport at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.
