Description
Original Ali-Frazier I Photographs Taken By Frank Sinatra, number 22. In 1971, Life Magazine commissioned Frank Sinatra to photograph the now legendary fight known as Ali-Frazier 1. That fight was held on March 8, 1971 at Madison Square Garden. Some of the photographs of the fight appeared in the March 19, 1971 issue of Life Magazine. Indeed, one of Mr. Sinatra's photographs appeared on the cover of that issue of Life Magazine. All of the photographs, including those taken of Mr. Sinatra, were a gift from Frank Sinatra to his best friend, Jilly Rizzo. In 1980,A.J Fusco assumed ownership of these photographs, having acquired them from Mr. Rizzo. Between the years of 1979 through 1981, A.J. Fusco was the last owner of the infamous Jilly's Restaurant, located onW. 52nd Street, Manhattan. All of the photographs have been in his possession since 1980.The photographs are the original photographas put on display by Life Magazine after the fight. They are 11" x 14" and are matted in white. Each is numbered on the bottom of the mat. Each mat bears a stamp with the notation "Photo by Frank Sinatra". In addition to the photographs taken by Mr. Sinatra, other photographs show the legendary screen actor, Burt Lancaster, sitting next to his good friend, Frank Sinatra, who can be seen photographing the fight.
