Johnny Cash, a typed signed letter from President Richard Nixon, April 1970. President Richard Nixon typed, one page, signed letter to Johnny Cash on official White House letterhead. April 23, 1970. After receiving Cash for a performance for the First Family at the White House. 3 days prior on April 20, Nixon writes a letter of gratitude. In part, "Nixon and I were delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you and Mrs. Cash to the White House last Friday and I want to express my thanks to you for the superb entertainment you provided for all of us who had the privelage of seeing you. The spirit of your music and your message demands great talent as well as a special kind of integrity. Needless to say, the enthusiastic reception you received here anew that you possess these and many other gifts in abundance." Proxy signed at the conclusion in black.
