This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette two-door coupe will cross the auction block at the Scottsdale Auction, Jan. 11-23, 2011.
The 40th-annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, scheduled for Jan. 11-23, 2011, will mark the beginning of a year-long celebration for the auction house.
“Our 40th anniversary will celebrate the automotive passion that has transformed this hobby,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Barrett-Jackson is honored to be one the catalysts for the mainstream acceptance of car collecting, and we’re excited to throw a party for the millions of people who have joined the pastime over the past four decades.”
Highlighting the festivities will be the display of four collector cars from the 1971 model year to honor Barrett-Jackson’s first auction, which was held in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1971. These four cars will travel across the country throughout 2011, stopping at racetracks, automotive events and each of Barrett-Jackson’s auction events.
The coast-to-coast tour will end at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction, where each car will be sold separately.
Other anniversary specials include a VIP package given away at each auction and a contest on the Barrett-Jackson Facebook page that will give away tickets and merchandise. Fans will also be able to purchase a 40th-anniversary DVD box set with interviews from Barrett-Jackson executives.
“We look forward to celebrating our anniversary with our loyal fans, consignors, bidders, sponsors, exhibitors and other friends,” said Steve Davis, president of the auction house. “Some say life begins at 40, and for the team at Barrett-Jackson, it couldn’t be more true.”
