Description
Following two original restorations, the owners decided to find a modern drivetrain that could provide a reliable and comfortable car for extensive touring. A 3,000 mile damaged Corvette was located, with no mechanical damage, that was purchased for the powertrain. After extensive engineering, without disturbing the original body and frame, the total drivetrain was installed with 4-wheel disc brakes, Corvette independent suspension, tuned port fuel injection with all being tuned to the original GM computer module. Then added air conditioning, power windows and power moon roof. The transition was worthy of enhanced appearance with powder coating, painting, polishing and extensive chrome plating, both on the rolling chassis and the original body. Now add the Dove leather interior and rumble seat all transported by Tru-spoke wire wheels. This transformation has received many awards including four firsts at World of Wheels, Phoenix Civic plaza, also the Grand National award at a Studebaker International meet at Las Vegas, and the only "Magazine Pick" at an 1,100 car show at Lake Havasu, Ariz.
