Description

The Prowler was introduced in 1997 and was an instant sensation. Chrysler had already created a legend when the Viper RT/10 Roadster was introduced five years earlier. They might have been hoping that lightning would strike twice when the Prowler was introduced and in a way it did. The Prowler was a concept car, the likes of which had never been seen before, unless you're counting a 30s era Ford High Boy Roadster, which is what the Prowler was loosely based on. The Prowler has an aluminum body, with a 3.5 liter V6 engine coupled to a 42LE 4-speed automatic transmission. The engine was fitted with stainless steel exhaust manifolds. The front suspension used upper and lower control arms with pushrods; in back, an independent double-wishbone suspension was used. 4-wheel disc brakes with vented rotors stopped the Prowler quickly and without fade. The exhaust is loud and seems to come from all around. The tachometer is the only instrument directly ahead of the driver; the huge AutoMeter tach has a strapped-on look, emerging from a hole cut into the standard corporate steering column. Other instruments are spread out around the direct center of the car, with the gas gauge all the way on the driver's side, and the speedometer, barely larger than the tach is dead center. It's a daring setup, and an odd one, but it works. 14,561 actual miles. The '02 model run was the last for the Prowler and only 1,328 units were produced that year with the last one off the line coming in February. The color; yellow looks absolutely stunning on this car. The car is a blast to drive.
