Details

Original 1969 COPO Camaro. Built at the Norwood, OH assembly plant in August, 1969, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro is the genuine article, a real COPO 9561 version that belonged to Chevrolet Marketing Chief Vince Piggins. The cast-iron block L72 427cid engine specified for the COPO has all the right pieces. A huge 850cfm Holley 4 barrel carburetor feeds the intake charge through a dual plane aluminum intake manifold to rectangular port cylinder heads with 2.19" intake and 1.72" exhaust values. A forged steel crank, forged 11.0:1 aluminum pistons and forged steel rods form the race-ready bottom end, with a solid lifter, high lift and high duration cam modulating the engine's incredible performance. It is an important point to collectors that this Cortez Silver 1969 COPO still possesses its original engine. It is one of 822 Camaro COPOs equipped with a Muncie 4-speed (a further 193 were built with automatic gearboxes) backed by the 12-bolt posi-traction rear axle. Built in August of 1969, it was restored to factory original condition in 2007, after which it was certified by a noted Camaro guru. It carries option codes X44 and D80, denoting a non-SS version with factory installed front and rear spoilers. The interior trim code confirms the car's base black interior with bucket seats, power steering and brakes, a radio and tinted glass are the sole extras. This rare 1969 Camaro COPO was recertified in 2012, once again establishing the car's authenticity as one of the most elite Camaros ever built.
