Description
Lot #960 - The Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III Phase II was the final and ultimate model in a long run of successful sports cars, starting with the 100-4 of 1953. The MK III was produced from 1954 to 1967 and featured end-of-the-line upgrades such as a 150bhp engine, power brakes, trailing arm rear suspension and revised interior with walnut veneered dashboard. Today, this model is the one of the most sought after of the production cars and is arguably the fastest, safest and most comfortable Big Healey, as they are one of the most valuable of the marque. This spectacular example offered here has just completed a superb restoration by premier marque specialist Kurt Tanner Restorations. Purchased last year from only its second owner, this original California-delivered car is finished in the highly desirable and quintessential color scheme of Healey Blue with correct Navy Blue "Ambla" trim, top and top boot. Details of the restoration include new show quality body and paint work, new chrome, rubber, interior kit, dashboard, glass, new 60-spoke chrome wire wheels with radial tires, new wiring harness and electrics, stainless steel exhaust system, cadmium-plated hardware, detailed driveline and undercarriage, freshened engine with new rings, rod bearings, gaskets, cylinder head rebuild, etc. This vehicle has been restored with absolute authenticity and originality in mind and the finest materials have been used. All work and detailing has been carried out to Austin-Healey Club Gold concours standards and a photo album is provided attesting to its extensive professional restoration. This late grand tourer is supplied with a 5th chrome spare wheel, top boot and bag, owner's manual and BMIHT certificate. The ultimate Big Healey color, this exceptional motorcar has been professionally and meticulously restored by a marque expert and offers excellent investment potential.
