Description
Lot #106.1 - The SC was produced from 1978-1983. It is very original mechanically as it left the factory in 1983. It has the 3.0 Liter air-cooled engine with the 5-speed manual transmission. The car has received regular maintenance throughout its life and all receipts are available and go with the sale. The car currently drives and shifts perfectly with no known defects. The shift bushings were replaced in 2007 to tighten up the linkage. It now shifts very firm and crisp like new. Oil has never had to be added between changes. Steering is very tight and handling through corners is in my opinion the highlight of driving this automobile. The exhaust is in tact with no leaks or issues as well. Suspension is all stock and as mentioned earlier with the steering, is a thrill to experience. The interior when purchased, had worn leather front seats with vinyl door panels and rear jump seats. Whether the front seats were original or not, and in light of the near perfect condition of the rest of the interior, the front seats were custom reupholstered to match the rest of the interior in 2007 and currently look fantastic. There is a Blaupunkt stereo which works completely. The headliner is black as well and does not sag or have any rips or tears. All of the glass is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, and both power windows work as should. The exterior color is traditional Porsche Guards Red. The car has been repainted (before my ownership) and has a nice, high quality glossy finish. There is one small blemish on the left front headlight trim ring (not part of body work at all) that looks as though it was a rock "ding" that was touched up with red that does not quite match. It is only about the size of your thumbnail and has no affect on the performance of the car whatsoever. All four tires were replaced in 2007 and have only a few hundred miles on them. This car is regularly driven. It is not "babied" I do, however, make a point of not driving it in the rain. While I do keep it clean inside and out, I do not clean the engine with a toothbrush every day. Take care of it, yes, but I enjoyed it, too. Cars were meant to be driven and that's what I've done. She's a 25 year old classic with 98,000 original miles. That's less than 4,000 per year. This car is a piece of sports car history that the next owner will enjoy and appreciate for many years to come. If you've never made the step up to Porsche, now is the time, and this is your opportunity.
