Frequently Asked Questions

The Online Auction Process

How do I see what vehicles and automobilia are for sale?

All Lots for sale will be shown in the online docket for each category. For the Online Only May 2020 Auction, you can view the Collector Car Docket HERE, and the Automobilia Docket HERE. Simply click on a Lot listing for more information about each item.

What do I do if I want to buy something?

Click “Bid online now” on the Barrett-Jackson listing and you’ll be taken to the website of our online platform provider Proxibid, where you can register to bid and begin the bidding process.

How long do I have to bid on something?

Our online only auctions are timed auctions, with each item available for online bidding for several days. You will see the amount of time left to bid on each item when you click on it. The highest bid at the specified closing date and time wins the item, provided the Reserve (if any) is met.

What if I have a question about an item?

On the Proxibid listing, click on the “Get More Info” button, and one of our team members will try to find an answer for you as soon as possible.

The Bidding Process

If you have any questions about the bidding process that aren’t addressed below, please email [email protected] or call 480-421-6694.

How do I register to bid?

You will need to create an account on Proxibid by clicking HERE (you will also be redirected there when you click on “Bid Online Now” next to an item on our website docket). Once there, you will request a desired bid limit, sign our bidder agreement and provide a credit card for a deposit authorization.

What documents are required to register to bid?

The only documents required to bid in the Barrett-Jackson Online Only Auction are a copy of your driver’s license and credit card for a $5,000 authorization/hold.

I want to bid on something – where can I find the details?

We encourage all potential bidders to read the listing on the dockets HERE or the Proxibid site HERE. Questions can be asked by clicking “Get More Info” and a member of the Barrett-Jackson team will try to get an answer for you.

Can I place a bid for any amount/how do I place a maximum bid?

Maximum bids must be placed at specific increments. To view eligible bid amounts, open the bid increment table.

How does Reserve/No Reserve work when bidding?

If an item is selling with No Reserve, the bid increment amount you enter, if higher than the existing bid, will be the current high bid. If an item is selling with a Reserve, if your bid is the current high bid but if it does not meet the Reserve set by the seller, you will see a “Reserve Not Met” message in the Lot listing. You can continue to bid in an attempt to meet the Reserve.

Are there any fees for bidding?

Yes. Buyer’s premium (on top of the winning bid) is 10% for vehicle purchases and 17% for automobilia purchases.

What happens if I win an auction?

You will receive an email confirming you have won an item. The email will also contain next steps.

How does payment work?

A Barrett-Jackson representative will reach out to you within 24 hours regarding the purchase documents and arranging a wire transfer of the funds, including buyer’s premium and any necessary taxes, depending on where you reside.

How do I get the title to a vehicle, and how does shipping work?

A Barrett-Jackson team member will work with you to coordinate all necessary paperwork. Shipping each vehicle or automobilia item is the responsibility of each buyer to arrange and pay for, but our team will be happy to provide you with information of our preferred shipping partners.

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept all major credit/debit cards.

Can I bid if I’m not in the United States?

Absolutely – as long as you register with a valid credit card.

Why does the time clock reset when bidding?

If a bid is placed within the final minutes of a timed auction, the Proxibid system will automatically extend the bidding timeframe, ensuring the buyer willing to bid the highest amount always wins.

Can I cancel my bid?

Bids on the site cannot be canceled, rescinded or revoked – be sure to take care when placing your bid.
