Nicknamed “Apocalypse,” this custom 1968 Chevrolet C10 pickup was built by Backyard Specialties in Santa Ana, CA. It has a Roadster Shop Spec chassis as its foundation and is powered by a new GM Performance 627hp LSX 454ci crate engine mated to a 4L80 4-speed automatic transmission. The RS Spec chassis is equipped with coilover suspension at all four corners, power rack & pinion steering, a 4-link rear end and hydro-boost power Wilwood disc brakes clamping on big 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors. The custom dual-exhaust system has headers and electronically actuated cutouts.
Subtle customizations include flush-mounted windshield and rear glass, one-piece window glass, smoothed firewall, custom air intake, rear mini-tubs and a custom oak wood bed. The custom all-leather interior was done by renowned California Upholstery and features bucket seats, AutoMeter InVision digital LCD display cluster, a custom center console with stainless cupholders and interior LEDs, as well as a starlight headliner, push-button start, air conditioning and a custom stereo with touchscreen display and Apple CarPlay. This C10 rides on Savini Signature Series wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Nero tires.
“Apocalypse” was recognized by the judges at the 2023 Los Angeles Grand National Truck Show, where it won Second Place. The sale includes a build book documenting the restoration and build with photographs and receipts.
