A 1968 Dodge Charger built by Classic Car Studio was awarded the prestigious title of Ultimate Best in Show at the 2025 Barrett-Jackson Cup competition, presented by Castrol, during the 2025 Scottsdale Auction held at WestWorld. Each year, this elite competition celebrates the world-class craftsmanship, skill and talent of the industry’s top custom car and truck builders.
The award-winning Dodge Charger is powered by a matching-numbers 440ci engine originally built by Dick Lindy, backed by a 4L80 transmission. It sits on a Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis and rides on a set of Billet Specialties wheels.
The muscle car has a full custom interior, and the exterior is finished in BASF Glasurit paint. What stood out to the judges about this build were the Charger’s unique features, such as the sharpened body lines, shaved drip rails and tucked bumpers. Other highlights included the modified wheelbase and custom stainless exhaust.
The Charger was awarded the $20,000 cash purse, among other prizes. The other four finalists rounding out the Top 5 in this year’s competition were a pink 1932 Ford Roadster built by Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop, a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette built by Streamline Custom Designs LLC for the “Castrol: Path to Performance” YouTube series, a 1969 Ford F-100 built by Scott’s Hotrods ’n Customs and a 1959 Chevrolet Impala built by Steve Cook Creations.
Legendary builders Bobby Alloway and Troy Trepanier handpicked the Top 5 finalists and ultimately crowned the Best in Show winner. Meanwhile, Barrett-Jackson fans also had their say, voting a 1985 Chevrolet C10 pickup by Goolsby Customs as the coveted People’s Choice award-winner.
The custom pickup is powered by a GM Performance LT1 Pace Performance engine rated with 525hp and backed by a Gearstar 4L65E transmission. It sits on a Roadster Shop-spec slammed chassis with Baer 6-piston brakes and rides on a set of Billet Specialties wheels.
Inside the People’s Choice pickup is a full custom interior created by its builder, featuring leather by Cato’s Custom Upholstery. The exterior is finished in a BASF Light Blue Metallic, Frost White and custom orange. Other unique features that made this truck stand out include the tucked and shaved bumpers and custom metal-fabricated engine bay, along with a shaved and smoothed cab.
