The example crossing the Barrett-Jackson block during the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, October 10-13, however, is not just any Chiron; it carries the legacy and prestige of its singular owner, the undisputed Super Middleweight champion of the world, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Canelo’s remarkable career is defined by his formidable boxing record of 61 wins, two losses and two draws. A champion across four weight divisions – super middleweight, junior middleweight, middleweight and light heavyweight – Canelo’s dominance in the ring is mirrored by his discerning taste in collector cars. This 2018 Bugatti Chiron, which has been meticulously maintained and carefully garaged for most of its life, has clocked a mere 1,610 miles, signaling a testament to Canelo’s exceptional standards. All service is up to date and has been performed by Bugatti of San Diego since new.
At the heart of this automotive marvel lies an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine. This powerhouse generates a staggering 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 ft/lbs of torque. Such raw power, harnessed through a 7-speed direct shift twin-clutch gearbox, catapults the Chiron from 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 261 mph.
The all-wheel-drive system is enhanced by a front axle equipped with a BorgWarner torque transfer differential and a rear axle with a transverse differential lock. Inside, the Chiron’s cabin is a sanctuary of luxury, finished in Lake Blue and French Racing Blue with plenty of carbon-fiber appointments throughout. The Comfort Seats, featuring a special leather and carbon interior option, add a $93,000 premium. Providing a luxurious and connected driving experience, this Chiron features a 7-speaker 3D stereo from Accuton, a navigation system, Sirius radio, Bluetooth connectivity and automatic climate control.
The exterior is equally bespoke, with unique paint colors from Standox Company. The front of the Bugatti is adorned in French Racing Blue, transitioning to Atlantic Blue at the rear. Caractère wheels are a $62,000 option, complemented by the French Racing Blue brake calipers. The painted underside of the rear wing, painted front grille horseshoe and gray carbon-fiber wing mirrors complete the stunning visual package. All these options bumped this particular Bugatti’s MSRP to just under $3.2 million.
