LOT #732 – 1962 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE – NO RESERVE
The Chevrolet Corvette has always embodied a unique brand of cool, effortlessly capturing the hearts of car enthusiasts for generations. Whether it’s cruising in its stock form, restored to its original glory or transformed into a modern Resto-Mod marvel, every Corvette carries an undeniable swagger. Each tells its own story, boasting a distinct personality that sets it apart, blending history, innovation and that unmistakable Corvette charisma.
Once the prized possession of heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield, this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette convertible has gone from a classic cruiser to a knockout Resto-Mod. Expertly reimagined by Restomodvette after Holyfield parted ways with it in 2012, the car now combines timeless Corvette charm with modern engineering and performance, creating a show-stopping blend of muscle and style. This unique Corvette is set to cross the Scottsdale Fall Auction block with No Reserve, October 10-13 at WestWorld, promising an unmissable opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Under the hood, the Corvette is powered by a brand-new GM LS3 crate engine, a modern powerhouse known for its reliability and performance. Complemented by Corvette-style valve covers and headers, this engine is further enhanced by a Restomodvette side-draft stacked injection system managed by a Holley Terminator engine management system, providing precise control over the engine’s performance. The engine is paired with a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission that has been professionally upgraded to 4L70E specifications.
Supporting this potent drivetrain is an Art Morrison chassis, equipped with fully independent front and rear suspension. The setup includes RideTech coilovers with fully adjustable ride height, allowing the Corvette to be fine-tuned for both comfort and performance. Stopping power is provided by an electric system featuring Wilwood brakes with massive 14-inch rotors and 6-piston calipers up front, offering confidence-inspiring braking performance that matches the car’s impressive acceleration. This Corvette rides on stunning Forgeline three-piece custom wheels with classic three-eared spinners, wrapped in high-performance Continental tires that add a modern yet tasteful touch to its vintage look.
Attention to detail is evident throughout the build, from the power rack and pinion steering to the intricately crafted fuel system. A Tanks Inc. gas tank with a high-flow Walbro pump ensures the LS3 engine receives a steady supply of fuel, while a Holley Performance wiring harness handles the car’s electronic management. Modern conveniences are seamlessly integrated, including Dakota Digital RTX gauges that provide a blend of classic aesthetics with contemporary functionality. The car’s LED lighting not only improves visibility but also adds a sleek, modern edge to its timeless design.
The body of this Corvette retains its original 1962 lines but has been restored and enhanced. Stripped to bare fiberglass using glass bead blasting, the car was then finished in a stunning Candy Red Effect paint with Billet Silver coves and a High Solids clearcoat for a deep, lustrous finish. To complete the look, the exterior is adorned with trim inspired by the 1958-60 Corvette models, enhancing its classic appeal. Even the underside of the vehicle showcases the same level of craftsmanship, protected by durable Raptor Coat.
The interior is equally impressive, featuring luxury materials and modern touches that elevate the driving experience. Custom seats upholstered in Douglass Interior Products Phantom leather with double stitching offer both comfort and style, while a Billet Specialties steering wheel wrapped in matching leather ensures the driver remains connected to the road. The interior is further upgraded with a cutting-edge stereo system, featuring a large 9-inch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, a backup camera, amplifier and premium performance speakers for an immersive audio experience. A Vintage Air system with custom integrated vents keeps the cabin cool, even on the hottest days.
Adding to its exclusivity, the car is topped with a new convertible frame finished in Stayfast Charcoal material, perfectly complementing the Charcoal German square-weave carpet that lines the interior and trunk. The entire build was completed in September 2024 and has only been driven test miles since.
With its combination of modern performance and craftsmanship, this custom 1962 Chevrolet Corvette convertible stands among the masterpieces of automotive artistry. The sale includes documentation of Evander Holyfield’s ownership, adding an extra layer of provenance to an already remarkable vehicle. This championship-worthy Resto-Mod will be offered with No Reserve at the Scottsdale Fall Auction, held October 10-13 at WestWorld. Register to bid today to take it home with you.
