Lot 711.1 - Burt Reynolds' 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Tampa Bay Bandits promo carIn addition to the three cars from Burt Reynolds that pay homage to several of his most-famous films, a fourth special car once owned by the late actor is also headed for the auction block in Las Vegas: A 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (Lot #711.1) that was one of two used to promote Reynolds’ USFL football team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. On opening day of the season, Reynolds and his friend and co-star Jerry Reed drove out onto the field in the cars. While one car didn’t survive, this one did – it was discovered in a garage, where it had lived for a number of years. The highly detailed matching-numbers car was brought back to driving condition by Restore A Muscle Car, and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission. With 65,000 original miles on the odometer, it is signed by both Burt Reynolds and the late Jerry Reed.
