Ford created the pony car vehicle classification 50 years ago with the introduction of the Mustang. Sporty in nature, the long nose/short trunk design was introduced in 1964 at the World’s Fair. Fast forward to 2014, and the Ford Motor Company is celebrating the milestone anniversary with a version of the 2015 Mustang called the “50 Years Limited Edition”. Ford will produce exactly 1964 of these cars and has partnered with the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company to auction #1964, the very last car of the edition to be built. All proceeds will go to Get Your Heart Racing, a fundraising event supporting Henry Ford Health System’s Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute.
The winning bidder will be presented with some exciting options for their new limited edition 2015 Mustang. They can choose to transform Mustang 1,964 into a unique replica of the official Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway pace car, or keep it in showroom stock form. In either trim, the winning bidder can choose to have a supercharger installed for added horsepower. The winning bidder will also receive a VIP package to the Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where a preproduction unit of the “50 Years Limited Edition” Mustang will serve as the official event pace car.
A 50 Years Limited Edition Mustang will also be shown at the Get Your Heart Racing Pit Party, a spectacular fundraiser to be held at Eastern Market in Detroit, Friday, Sept. 12, 2015. For more details, please visit:
